Ingredients

Instructions
- 1
In a small bowl, mix the yeast, ¼ cup warm milk, and a sprinkle of sugar. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes, until foamy.
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the remaining 1 cup warm milk, sugar, flour, salt, butter, egg, and the activated yeast mixture. Stir with a spatula or fork until everything comes together. The dough should be soft and a little sticky (add 1 tablespoon more milk if it feels dry).
- 3
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 4
Lightly flour your surface and turn the dough out. Divide and shape into 6 to 10 round buns. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover again, and let rise for another 30–60 minutes.
- 5
Bake at 325°F for 20 minutes, or until golden and cooked through
